September 1, 2017 Newsletter

Dear OES Families,

What a great start to the 2017-2018 school year!!!!  You can see it in the face of our students that they are excited about the learning and engaging lessons our teacher are preparing.  As many of you have noticed, we have many new faces to Ooltewah Elementary.  Please welcome them to the OES family if you meet them.

Morning Arrival Process and Afternoon Dismissal

Please remember, our first priority during the arrival and dismissal process is student, parent and staff SAFETY.  Additionally, please remember that our safest and most efficient method of transportation is by bus.  All of our bus drivers are owner/operators and are diligent in delivering our students safely.  When you feel comfortable, please consider allowing your child to take advantage of this option.

For Car Rider ARRIVAL, please remember the following for safety:

  1. Buses have the right-of-way
  2. Stay in your lane, and stay off Cell Phones
  3. Follow directions of staff members
  4. All students exiting cars must walk forward (not between cars)

For DISMISSAL, we have 4 options for students to go home:

  1. Bus
  2. Car Rider (must have Red and White Car Rider Tag)
  3. SACC (After Care)
  4. Walkers (McKenzie Farms Subdivision residents only)

If your child needs to change their method of transportation, the parent or guardian must provide a written note, or call the school prior to 3:00.

Don’t forget, riding the bus is a safe and efficient way for students to get home.  Most buses leave our campus by 3:45 to deliver students to their homes.  If your child rides the bus, you also won’t have to wait in our car rider lines.  J  And you save gas. J

    Inclement Weather dismissal information

You will soon be receiving our “Inclement Weather Dismissal Form”.  In the event that school is dismissed early for bad weather, we will use the information on this form to dismiss your child.

In the event a thunderstorm (or similar) is occurring at dismissal, student dismissal to cars and/or buses may possibly be delayed until the administration determines it is SAFE.

    Sincerely, Tom Arnold, OES Principal
