Dear OES Families,

17 DAYS LEFT.  We are just finishing up our 5th year in the new building, but it feels like we just moved in.  As I reflect on the school year, I am reminded of the Solar Eclipse, the lack of winter weather, our new superintendent, some great student performances, a successful Spelling Bee, a great Fun Run, and more.  We couldn’t have had these great successes without the team work of parents, staff, and community members…..and of course our awesome students.  With state testing complete, we are now looking forward to wrapping up this school year.  With 17 days left, we still have some learning to do, but we are going to have some fun doing it.

Registration for the 2018-2019 school year

For the upcoming school year, the Hamilton County Dept. of Educ. will be utilizing PowerSchool for online registration.  Parents will be able to start registering on July 11th.   More information will be shared with parents via FaceBook, email, the HCDE website,  mail and/or automated phone messages.

Camp Invention

Camp Invention is back again at OES!!!  This is an awesome camp held at our own school from June 4th – 8th.  The camp is directed and taught by our own teachers as well.  For more information, please contact our Gifted Teacher, Lindsey Glass or visit our school’s FaceBook page.

School Safety

I’m proud to announce that we are continuing to do our best to keep student safety at the forefront.  This spring, we have started utilizing the Raptor visitor management system and we’ve installed speed bumps to slow traffic.  In the fall of 2018 (date TBD), we will be installing a camera buzz-in system at our front entrance.  As principal, I have also advocated with area representatives about adding a School Resource Officer.  Since this is a funding issue, I encourage you to contact your school board member and county commissioner if you feel this important to the safety of OES.

School payments

For the remainder of the school year and by directive of the HCDE finance department, any form of payment to the school (field trips, cafeteria, etc.) must be in the form of cash,
