October 1, 2018 Newsletter

Dear OES Families,

Fall is here, and school is in full swing.  Teachers are keeping their students engaged and our students are producing great results.  We have had a very productive coupon book sale.  The profit from this sale will help support technology and other materials in the classrooms.  Additionally, we are looking forward to our upcoming OES Fest.  Please review the following announcements.

Lost and Found

As the cold weather begins to arrive, we will start to accumulate large amounts of lost and found items.  If your child is missing a coat, lunch box or any other item of clothing, please check the lost and found in the cafeteria.  We will be donate unclaimed items to charity twice a year.  Don’t forget to write your child’s name on their belongings.

PTA Membership

Our PTA is our school’s strongest supporter of our students and teachers.  The following classes have the highest membership in their grade level:  PreK – Gregory, K-Goins, 1st-Brown, 2nd-Watts, 3rd-Houser, 4th-Brock, 5th-Nolen.

It’s not too late to join.

Morning Arrival Process and Afternoon Dismissal

We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding for our morning arrival and afternoon dismissal procedures.  Please keep in mind that our priority is the safety of our students.  Student are NOT to be dropped off in the parking lots or in the back of the building.  In an effort to improve our traffic flow, if you are parking in the morning, please make the first right turn and enter the parking lots from the west end (the end near McKenzie Farms).  After walking your child in, you may then exit on the front end of the parking lot (close to where Mr. Arnold stands to direct traffic).

If your child needs to change their method of transportation, the parent or guardian must provide a written note the morning of the change, otherwise your child will be sent home by their primary method as notified to the teacher (bus, car rider, After Care, etc.)

Fall Break October 8-15

Students do not report to school from October 8 - 15.  Monday, October 15th is a Teacher Professional Development Day and students do not report to school.  Students return to school on October 16th.
